Rehan Ahmed, England’s debutant spinner, added a 5-wicket haul to his name in the second test match between England and Pakistan. The 18 years old spinner has also become the youngest player to get a fifer in his test debut.
At the age of 18 years and 126 days, Rehan has achieved this remarkable feat. Previously, the record was held by Pat Cummins when he picked up 6 wickets against South Africa in 2011. He was 18 years 193 days old at that time.
Rehan completely destroyed Pakistan’s batting line up in his 6-over stretch. Babar Azam (54) and Saud Shakeel (53), showing great resilience, were putting up a good partnership. It was at that point Ben Stokes turned up to Rehan in search of wickets.
Rehan didn’t disappoint his captain as within a few overs of his spell he brought Pakistan completely on the back foot. He scrapped both Babar and Shakeel and also sent Mohammad Rizwan to the pavilion.
Later, in the match he snatched the wickets of Mohammad Wasim and Agha Salman to complete his 5 wickets haul. With this, England restricted Pakistan to 216, putting up a target of 167 for England.
By the end of the day, England were on 112/2, inches closer to victory. They are all set to whitewash Pakistan in the Test Series.
